About The Nine:
The Eugene Emeralds met with a panel of local black leaders and organizations to carefully craft a Brand-New, groundbreaking Alternate Identity. The colors of the jersey have been picked with respect to the lengthy, complex history of the Black community in Eugene. The cap is designed in the spirit of caps from the Negro League Era. Come see The Eugene Nine take the field for the first time in 2025.

Named for the number Jackie Robinson wore during his only season playing in Minor League Baseball with the Triple-A Montreal Royals in 1946, The Nine connects the Eugene Emeralds existing, Black-community focused development efforts with new national programming and future special events in a coordinated and centralized campaign.
The Nine recognizes and honors numerous Black pioneers and trailblazing civil rights leaders in all 120 MiLB communities, ensuring the heroes of the past and their contributions continue to be celebrated through ceremonies and events at MiLB ballparks and in the community.
